Guess what, friends? Tomorrow I turn 23. Normally I don’t ask for gifts, but this year my birthday wish is for you to answer this question:
What kind of person do you want to be?
Leave a comment, shoot me an email, post it on Facebook or Twitter, record a video, write a poem…or send a message in a bottle. Any way you please.
What kind of person do you want to be?
Tell me, and you’ll make my birthday the best one yet.
May y’all be happy (that’s my other birthday wish),
katie
In all honesty Katie, I am the person I want to be; respectful, kind, caring, loving, & compassionate. Enjoy your special Day!
Uncle Jerry! What a fabulous answer. It’s true: everything we need “to be,” we already are.
Thank you for your beautiful birthday wishes! Keep living every day with all your precious qualities.
love,
your niece :)
I want to be the kind of person who makes other people’s dreams come true, in a non-perverse kind of way.
It started with this moment in high school: senior year, before the last benefit concert I put on in the auditorium, when Red Sauce played. I showed Richard a copy of Alive & Kicking that listed their name in the event calendar, maybe even put a photo, and he ran around the science quad screaming and waving it around. I want to be the kind of person who makes those moments happen.
Oh yeah, happy birthday!
Hi Katie,
I want to be a Dad whose child is very special. Wait! I be him. Love
Elisa…what a fantastic moment. I can completely picture Richard going berzerk in the Science Quad, hahaha! Sounds like a wonderful thing to be: a dream-maker.
Dad, I love you. :)
I’ve gotten so many beautiful responses in various media…I really wish I could share a video my friend Henry made that just made my heart smile…but apparently videos made on Facebook can’t be embedded other places (?)
But go check it out in my profile! It’s fabulous.
Thanks again to all y’all who made my birthday wish come true. It’s been something special.
Haha. It’s so crazy you got my letter on your birthday. I love when the universe comes together in serendipitous ways. I think you already know what my answer is:
I want to be me, whoever that will be. It’s an evolving search, a game, that every day is never the same.
A healer and a fighter. A bodhisattva. A human being (if I knew how to italicize, I would italicize “being.”).
belated birthday BEARCATHUG,
me
